It is used to either confirm or exonerate a person’s involvement in any suspect activity or wrongdoing, or those falsely accused of a crime. It is not used for, nor should a polygraph examiner ever inquire into a person’s religious beliefs, political beliefs or the individual’s sexual preferences or activities.
